How we score

A Food Fit score is a number from 0 to 100. It says how the product on the record lines up with the preferences you set. It is not a grade from a doctor, and it is not a letter printed on the package.

The ring

The word and the icon are the verdict. The colour of the ring repeats them. It is never the only signal.

What moves the number

Avoid names an ingredient you chose and caps the score. Limit takes points off. No preference leaves that flag out. Each line under the score says how many points it added or removed, and which field on the record it read. A field that is missing is listed as missing. It is not filled in.

What this is not

EatsNest shows how foods match the preferences you set. It is not medical or allergy advice. Always check the package. The catalogue you have before any outside connection is the starter set. A wider search uses Open Food Facts when that source is configured, and those records stay credited to their contributors.

Avoid and Limit

Avoid names an ingredient you chose and caps the score. Limit takes points off. A flag you leave unset does not move the number. The points come from the field on the record, per serving when that serving is present, and the same engine is used for every product.

Nutrient words

On a result, Low means 5% of the FDA Daily Value or less, and High means 20% or more. Medium is the span between those two. A blank field stays blank.

Where the records come from

The starter catalogue ships with the app. A barcode that is not in it is looked up on Open Food Facts when that source is configured, cached for 30 days, and credited under the Open Database License. If that source is not configured, or it has no record, the screen says the barcode is not here. It does not invent a product. Sources.

How often it changes

A fetched record is read again after 30 days. A package can change before that. The result shows the date the record was last checked when that date is on the record.

What we cannot see

Cross-contact, factory lines, and a reformulation that is not on the record are outside the score. Check the package.
