Where our data comes from
Last updated 13 September 2026
No product, nutrition or ingredient value exists in EatsNest without a source and a date. Where we do not have something, we say so rather than estimate it.
Starter catalogue (173 products)
This count is the records loaded in this deployment, not the size of Open Food Facts. From Open Food Facts, used under the Open Database License. Product data: Open Food Facts contributors (ODbL). Every product page shows its own source link and the date we last checked it. We use Open Food Facts for the starter catalogue, for barcode lookups you ask for, and for a name search when the starter catalogue has nothing and a user-agent is configured. Those search hits are not copied into the starter catalogue.
Catalogue provenance: Open Food Facts (ODbL) - attribution required in UI
Ingredient flags (27)
Each flag says what an ingredient is and where it appears, and nothing about what it does to a body. Citations point at U.S. regulatory and reference pages. 27 of them are awaiting a final source check and are marked as pending in our data.
Meal templates (15)
Written by the EatsNest team. Their macros are estimates, labelled as such wherever they appear, until they are verified against USDA FoodData Central.
Something look wrong?
Every product page has a “Report a data issue” control, and the limitations page sets out where the score can be wrong.
